Our Vision Explained
Translation - bridging the conceptual gap
One functional definition of translation, following the equivalency theoretical construct, could be that translation is the creation of an equivalent, for all intends and purposes, of an initial entity in another language or form of expression. There is bitter war between quite a few schools of thought for each of the preceding words (and many of the implied preconceptions and conventions that lead to it!), and I am pretty sure that even the definition itself will undoubtedly vary from what translators are taught. Here at Prakteon we use our own proprietary blend of sociotechnical mantras and an eclectic set of home-grown ideas and beliefs to create what we consider one of the best approaches to the problem at hand. We consider knowledge integration, which leads to evolution, the key to comprehending human interaction and its means of recording the processing of life itself (sic). From ancient Greek to Latin, modern Greek, English and German, I believe these statements describe the effective shape of things in a considerably legitimate way, in a depth sufficient for the purposes of this discussion.
On- and offline resources
Using a wide selection of offline resources, such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, specialized dictionaries, newspapers, technical literature (legal, financial, computer magazines & publications, etc) as well as online resources, we try to keep up with environmental interaction and change, while focusing on maintaining and evolving an existing knowledge corpus. The benefits of this effort are passed on to our customers and associates. Crystal clear texts that could easily be mistaken for original texts are the end result. Greek language at its best, without the anachronisms or the blatant disregard for the core language mechanisms -qualities that alienate the majority of Greek readers. That said, we have been successfully involved in a fully diversified range of projects, from CNC tools to computer/console games localization, annual reports and legal texts.
Knowledge integration
... has allowed us to create multilingual web sites for fast paced multicultural environments, to engage in adaptations for multilingual ad campaigns and translate complicated manuals for various devices, essays on network topologies and critical agreements, where the interpretation of each word would otherwise require the usual army of lawyers. Not here at Prakteon!
